... to prevent email addresses, usernames and passwords entered when logging in 
from being grabbed with the help of JavaScript embedded into the layout by the 
site owner. (Not necessarily intentionally, as people embed counters and lots 
of other gimmicks.)

For a more consistent look, maybe use the site's validated [1] color settings 
(almost all sites use hex codes), otherwise default colors?
