At the moment, the blacklist is displayed on the "preferences" page rather
than on the "referrer-page" itself. The checkboxes next to every referring
link lead people to add whole links to the blacklist which is not the best
way of using it because they don't only want to get rid of
http://123.fakeviagra.com, but also http://132.fakeviagra.com and
http://333.fakeviagra.com etc. On pages with lots of referrers and long
blacklists, it takes long until the filtered list is displayed, on slower
computers, users get notified of an "unresponsive script".

I therefore suggest
* moving the blacklist to the referrers page
* removing the checkboxes next to the links
* changing the text from "Enter one filter pattern per line to be applied
on every URL in the referrer and backlink lists." to e.g.
"Enter one filter pattern per line, e.g.
gambling
viagra
pharmacy
spammer.com

Do not enter blanks and character combinations frequent in legitimate links."

* Instead of the small form and the buttons "Filter" and "Reset" only one
"Save" button to save changes to the blacklist and the "Include Referrer
Spam" checkbox.

Changed the headline to reflect it's not an issue of aesthetics.

Looking at the lists at 48 blogs, I found that for every user that uses the
filter in
a reasonable way, there are two who don't. And if there weren't instructions in
the
support blogs and FAQs, the number would be even worse.

Update: you have already removed the checkboxes next to the links (thanks for
that!) and the old "Include Referrer Spam" checkbox was renamed to "Display the
referrers unfiltered" ("Rückverweise ungefiltert anzeigen") last year to
reduce confusion, I suggest keeping this description.
